WHAT TO WEAR?

Whittier Glacier Cruise- on the deck

Of all the spring meetings CSAP has hosted, I believe this one, in Anchorage, has evoked the most queries as to "what to wear?". In true Alaskan style, this is not a question of fashion. My response is usually "layers". However, cold is a relative term.
So- in pictures, let's look at some May photos from my past. This may help you decide what YOU would like to wear.

Wear a fleece over a long sleeve or short sleeve t-shirt. Weather is mid 50's during the day, night time is high 30's, low 40's. It CAN be in the 60's but that is unusual. At Denali, we just wore fleece and jeans. If you go on a glacier cruise, bring a winter coat if you wish to be on deck. Rule of thumb: if there's ice and snow, wear a winter coat!!

My husband, Steve (heavy fleece), and his sister. Seward glacier cruise.
She hails from Arizona (winter coat).

Denali National Park- our meeting is thrilling but not this wet
The brochure for the May meeting will soon be in your mail box. You can look forward to some fabulous presentations. We have Kim Stamatin from Marriott International and Ellen Shortill, from ASHA sharing insider tips to make your convention a success. This is in-depth information: from figuring out your room blocks, to creating a realistic budget. There will leadership, ethics, information on support personnel and governance. And round tables!! We must have our collaboration time!
Don't forget that the hotel rates at the Hilton are good 3 days before and after May 16-19.
